A bump is photographed standing, sitting, from the side, close in on hands, and wide enough to show where you are. Add a partner and an older child and half an hour is gone before anyone has relaxed. An hour is the shortest honest answer.

Open shade, reflected fill, and the right hour of the day. No flash in your face, no studio to hold a pose in, and nothing that asks you to stand longer than you want to.

Questions
When should I book a maternity shoot?
Most people shoot somewhere between 30 and 34 weeks. The bump reads clearly on camera by then, and standing for an hour outdoors is still comfortable. Earlier than about 28 weeks it does not photograph as clearly; much later and the session gets harder on you. If you are outside that window, tell me and we will work around it — this is guidance, not a rule.
How much is it?
$350 for a full hour outdoors and 25 fully retouched images in a private online gallery, in both web and print sizes. There is no sitting fee, no per-image charge, and no print package waiting at the end. The files are yours.
Can my partner and kids be in it?
Yes, and at no extra cost — it is one flat price whoever comes. In practice the strongest galleries mix all three: you on your own, you and your partner, and the whole family together. Older children usually give you about twenty good minutes, which is another reason the session runs an hour.
What should I wear?
Something fitted through the bump rather than loose over it — a wrap dress, a knit, a long jersey dress. Solid colors beat patterns, and mid-tones photograph better outdoors than bright white or black. Bring a second option if you want a change partway. You will get a short written note on this after you book, and you can send me a photo of what you are considering.
How is this different from the $195 family session?
Time and depth. The Family Portrait Session is 30 minutes and 10 images — the quick option, built around a card photo. Maternity runs a full hour and comes back as 25 images, because there is more to cover and no reason to rush a person who is seven or eight months pregnant. If you just want a fast family frame, book that one instead and keep the difference.
When do I get the photos?
I give you a date when we book. An hour outdoors produces far more frames than a headshot does and I edit every one of them myself, so the honest answer depends on what else is on the calendar that week — and I would rather tell you a date I can hold than print a number here that I cannot.
What if it rains?
We move you to the next weekend slot that works, at no charge. Overcast is genuinely fine — soft flat light is flattering and most of the frames people end up framing were shot in it. Only real rain moves a session.
